We Remember Stewart Smith

OUR thoughts are with Susan Smith, her family and friends on the day of her husband’s funeral.

Stewart Smith will be will be laid rest in a private service at Teesside Crematorium, his memory and legacy never to be forgotten.

A trustee of MFC Foundation between 2013 and 2019, Stewart was the Foundation’s Chair for approaching four of those years from April 2013 to August 2016.

He helped shape the Foundation in the way you see it today, mixing the passion for his football club with his vision in the world of business to the benefit of communities throughout the area. It was that business acumen that saw him named North East Executive of the Year in 2010 – a moment of great pride.

Like many a proud Teessider, Stewart began watching the Boro from the Boys End at Ayresome Park and remained a fan for the rest of his life. It was an immensely proud time for him when his company, Ramsdens, was on the shirts of his beloved Boro for seven years between 2010 and 2017 and then as Ramsdens Currency for a further year.

He was also a much-loved and well-respected match day hospitality member for many years along with Susan.

Stewart is pictured here on the right alongside George Friend at the official opening of the Herlingshaw’s outdoor 3G pitch in 2015, a photo that epitomised his love of the community, a community that benefitted from his generosity for many years.

That is a legacy his family would love to see continue. Many friends and colleagues of Stewart have expressed a wish to donate to one of his favourite charities. The link below has been set up by the Tees Valley Community Foundation for this purpose.

The Just Giving page is asking those who can to donate to a fund which will be used to benefit future generations in an area he loved.
