SABIC Extend Friend Of The Foundation Partnership

MFC Foundation is delighted to announce a continued partnership with SABIC who have committed to be a Friend Of The Foundation for another year.

SABIC has supported the Foundation since 2016, in line with their Corporate Social and Responsibility policy. Supporting local communities is at the core of SABIC’s response, to help fight the battle against COVID-19. SABIC have implemented a comprehensive CSR programme, including donating SABIC materials and PPE to the local healthcare sector, helping local food banks, supporting agencies that assist with the health and mental wellbeing of vulnerable groups and donating laptops, so that children can still learn and access the online resources they need.

As a global organisation, SABIC have committed to collaborating with relevant agencies across the world in helping try and overcome the current crisis. In the UK, SABIC remains committed to high levels of responsibility in the Teesside community and, they say, working with MFC Foundation is fundamental to that.

Claire Wordsworth, Senior Communications Business Partner for SABIC said: “We are delighted to support MFC Foundation for the fifth consecutive year as a Friend of the Foundation. We have always been highly impressed by the impact the Foundation has made on people of all ages across Teesside and were impressed yet again, how they have adapted their work during the rapidly changing crisis to support the community in different but very effective ways.”

Andrew Buckley, Business Development Manager at MFC Foundation, said: “We are honoured to have SABIC as one of our longstanding Friends of the Foundation. Like them, we have had to adapt our community response in recent weeks.

“We’re delivering food parcels to the vulnerable, assisting in the local foodbanks in Middlesbrough, additionally, staff are supporting Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council by shopping and delivering food for people who cannot go to the shops, or get an online food slot. Across East Cleveland, the team (dressed as superheroes) have delivered over 250 free school meals each week since lockdown, delivered hundreds of food parcels to those in need, and supported the local effort by donating food on a weekly basis.

“Our staff have been very busy, they have created a Virtual Classroom which is full of resources for young people and adults to complete, while many of our programmes have now gone virtual with weekly interactive sessions such as Fit Fans and Team Talk.

“It is great to see a local business like SABIC respond in a time of need.

“SABIC and MFC Foundation share many values and this is a natural partnership for the good of the community across Teesside.”
