Monumental Effort Sees 50,000 Bottles Of Orange And 40,000 Packets Of Crisps Distributed Throughout Our Region

A lot of work and a little treat has put smiles on the faces of thousands across Teesside thanks to the generosity of Greggs and a monumental effort by MFC Foundation.

Around 70 organisations covering Middlesbrough, Hartlepool, Redcar and Cleveland and Stockton have benefited, including schools, food banks, hospitals and care homes, as a mammoth 50,000 bottles of orange juice and 40,000 packets of crisps donated by the Tyneside-based bakery giants were distributed from Middlesbrough Football Club’s Riverside home.

Local businesses became involved, providing logistical support to a small army of workers.

They were greatly assisted by the provision of fork lift trucks helping to distribute a delivery which was spread over three days, with Ashtead Plant Hire, BITC, Costain Group and Sunbelt Rentals all coming together to work with staff from the club and the Foundation who organised the project.

“It has been a very busy and very rewarding week,” says Helena Bowman, Head of MFC Foundation.

“We’ve not dealt with something on this scale for a long time and great credit goes to everyone who pulled together to make this happen.

“We’re immensely grateful to Greggs and to the local business who have helped us, and of course to our staff and the volunteers from the club who have again come together to help the communities we’re proud to work with.”

Today’s deliveries come just a day after a donation from His Church was distributed to NHS workers throughout South Cleveland hospitals.
