Mackenzie Thorpe Inspired Love Of Teesside Competition

An internationally-acclaimed artist has joined forces with us here at MFC Foundation as we launch a competition to celebrate all that is good about Teesside.

Mackenzie Thorpe was born in Middlesbrough; his work has been shown and hung all around the world. But he has never forgotten his roots.

Now he is encouraging you to follow in his footsteps and create a piece of art that you think shows the best of our region.

There’s no age limit and virtually no rules, as Mackenzie himself explains: “I want you to show the world how proud you are of Middlesbrough, of Teesside, the surrounding areas.

“You can make models, you can take photographs, you can use your computers. You can draw like I do using pastels, you can paint anything you want.

“Look inside your heart, be proud of where you come from, let’s show the world how good a place Middlesbrough really is. Go for it!

“I’m really looking forward to seeing what you produce, remember, anything goes. Any size, any shape.”

Mackenzie has kindly sent us examples of his work, maybe they will inspire you, maybe you will use what you see around you to act as your inspiration.

This competition is open to all ages and you have just under a month to complete your work and send it in to us.

The deadline is 5pm on Friday June 12. Send your work, or an image of it, via e-mail to: enquiries@mfcfoundation.co.uk or upload a picture to Facebook/Instagram and tag us, or on Twitter using the hashtag #loveofteesside
