Anniversary Dinner A Huge Success

A MEMORABLE night was had by all in a packed Legends Lounge as MFC Foundation celebrated our 25th anniversary with a gala dinner.

At 25-years-old we are the oldest foundation connected to a football club in the country and we’re pretty proud of that.

The dinner was sponsored by Vistech, Drinks sponsors were Cornerstone Business Solutions, Programme sponsors Middlesbrough College Group and Table Plan sponsors CPI.

There were introductory speeches from Head of MFC Foundation Helena Bowman and Chair of the Foundation’s Trustees John Baker, followed by a video highlighting the impact the Foundation has made on one participant, Ady Blackmore, who openly tells anyone, “The Foundation saved my life”.

A three-course meal was followed by the Participant of the Year award, this year presented to a young man called Jordan who has shown so much resilience and belief to turn his life around. The ovation he received from the crowd was one of the highlights of the night.

Guest speaker was the inspirational Stuart Myers from The World At Your Feet. Stuart was born with no arms. Does it stop him living his life? You bet your life it doesn’t. Inspirational and entertaining.

Diners made donations to the Foundation by way of entry to an envelope draw which saw one person win a huge hamper donated by Lewis & Cooper, another win two seats in Cornerstone’s matchday box, donated by Cornerstone, and another an Xbox 1 donated by Middlesbrough College.

Towards the end of the evening an auction saw a five-course taster menu for eight cooked in your own home from MasterChef the Professionals quarter-finalist Chef Matei Baran, a Sponsored Race and hospitality for four, donated by Redcar Racecourse, a mascot experience, donated by the Boro, use of the Hummel hospitality box for 15 people for the Boro vs Bournemouth game donated by Hummel and a two-night stay for up to 10 people at the 5-star Dunsley Chapel situated just outside Whitby, donated by Host and Stay, raise just short of £7,000

The evening was rounded off with an excellent set from local band Beer Pigs.
