An Ultra Run For MFC Foundation – An Ultra Special Memory

ON Saturday morning, June 19th 2021, Lisa Hay will set off from Carlisle to complete The Wall, a seventy mile endurance run that will end on Newcastle Quayside at 9am on Sunday morning.

Lisa will be running for an incredible 26 hours to raise money for MFC Foundation in memory of her friend Lee Butcher, a Boro season ticket holder and lifelong fan.

Lee, a father of two, was due to become a granddad before he tragically lost his life at just 41 years of age.

Lisa described Lee as a fun loving, big hearted man (and wind-up merchant!) who had been a huge support to her on her previous runs.  As a mental health nurse Lisa is very aware of the challenges life brings to people on a day to day basis, she believes that being active is a key part to maintaining good mental health and this has motivated her to complete the London Marathon, The Great North Run and a 35 mile Edinburgh “Rat Race”.

Alongside a sky dive this running has raised thousands for charities including Cystic Fibrosis, Mind and the Mr Men children’s charity.

Lisa read about the work of the Foundation in the newspapers and felt that raising money for the charity would be a fitting tribute for Lee. If you would like to support Lisa please visit her just giving page:
