THE Ali Brownlee Parmo Party takes place on Thursday 27th April in the Hardwick Bar at the Riverside Stadium.
The date is significant, it was on that day that Boro beat Steaua Bucharest 4-2 in the semi-finals of the UEFA Cup to reach the final. Following the final whistle legendary commentator Alastair (Ali) Brownlee uttered the words that would become iconic across Teesside.
“That is it. It’s Eindhoven. It’s Eindhoven. Boro have made it. One of the most glorious nights in the history of football. We go back to 1876, the Infant Hercules, fathomed out of the foundries of Teesside, mined out of the Eston Hills, we’re roaring all the way to Eindhoven and the UEFA Cup Final. It’s party, party, party! Everybody round my house for a parmo!”
Those words are now emblazoned on the underpass at Shepherdson Way for all Boro fans to see as they go to the Riverside on matchdays.
Tables of 10 are available at a cost of £250 or individual tickets at a cost of £25 raising funds for us here at the Foundation, Ali’s family have agreed to us staging what we hope will be a special night.
