Two state-of-the-art facilities are currently under construction, which, once completed, will be overseen by Middlesbrough Football Club Foundation.

Benefitting from a £100,000 grant from the Sky Bet EFL Building Foundations Fund (BFF), and in collaboration with Middlesbrough Council, construction is underway at the site of the former Southlands Centre with Foundation staff relocating from our Riverside Stadium HQ to run the new facility upon completion.

The ambitious scheme will deliver top-class sports, education and community facilities and will provide a base for grassroots football, youth programmes, mentoring, employability training and more – supporting people of all ages to get active, gain new skills and connect with their community.

Charlotte Dinsdale, Head of Middlesbrough Football Club Foundation, is delighted work is underway, commenting: “It’s always good when you see a spade in the ground on projects like this. It makes it real.

“I know we’re not quite over the line yet, there are a couple of small hurdles to negotiate, but I’d like to thank everyone who is playing a part in bringing this project to life, and that very much includes Sky Bet EFL Building Foundations Fund, whose £100,000 grant will help make such a difference.

“We are delighted to be supporting Middlesbrough Council on this special project. We exist to raise aspirations and improve life chances for our communities, and when complete, this facility will further demonstrate our commitment to the people of Teesside.”

We are also pleased to announce that work is now underway on a new facility in Loftus as part of our continued and growing involvement in East Cleveland.

The project has been made possible by funding facilitated by Middlesbrough Football Club Foundation with additional financial backing from the Premier League, The FA and the Government’s Football Foundation.

In partnership with Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council, the development of the site situated on an area known as Ben Scott’s Field in Loftus will provide a new 3G pitch alongside a pavilion which will accommodate changing rooms and a café area, together with a car park. It is planned that the facility will be ready for opening next year, with regular public updates on the progress of the project.

Head of Foundation, Charlotte Dinsdale, is excited that the project, long in the planning, is finally underway, saying: “We are really excited to work with Redcar and Cleveland Council on this new and exciting venture as we build on the existing provision Middlesbrough Football Club Foundation offers in East Cleveland.

"This project will allow us to enhance what we can offer, to further benefit the local community, and will enable us to retain a strong presence in the area.”
