Southlands Community and Sports Hub is a multi-sports facility run by Middlesbrough Football Club Foundation, located in the heart of the local community in East Middlesbrough.
The centre, opened in July 2026 by the Mayor of Middlesbrough, Chris Cooke, holds a grass show pitch, outdoor 3G pitch, two changing facilities, Community Hall, a classroom, a meeting room, Foundation office space and free car parking.
Delivered in partnership with Middlesbrough Council, and with £100,000 grants from both Garfield Weston Foundation and Sky Bet EFL Building Foundations Fund, the grand opening was also attended by Andy McDonald, MP for Middlesbrough and Thornaby East, representatives from Middlesbrough Football Club, trustees of the Foundation, the EFL and site constructors Wharton Construction.
"This is exactly the sort of investment residents in East Middlesbrough deserve and I'm delighted we're now in a position to hand the facility over to Middlesbrough Football Club Foundation," said Mayor Chris Cooke. "The Southlands site brings high-quality facilities and more importantly, opportunities right into the heart of the community."
Southlands Community and Sports Hub is utilised for a variety of Middlesbrough Football Club Foundation’s projects, including school tournaments, holiday courses and education programmes such as our Sports Coaching and Development BSC (Hons) degree. The centre is also available for public use, with a number of local teams using the facility as a training base. There are football sessions, leagues and tournaments taking place every day of the week.
The state-of-the-art pitches are available for casual hire at competitive rates. Southlands Community and Sports Hub is open seven days a week, 8.45am-9pm on Monday-Friday and 8.45am-4pm Saturdays and Sundays.
