In the North East and North Yorkshire, there are approximately 19,580 people living with Parkinson’s and other neurological conditions.

Our weekly sessions held at Thornaby Pavilion include activities such as football, badminton and pickleball. They use the power of the football club to engage with those living with neurological conditions, increasing community support through physical activity.

The benefits of regular activity for those with neurological conditions include: improved mobility, flexibility and balance, as well as maintaining muscle strength, endurance and cognitive acuity. In addition to the physical benefits, we aim to help create a greater sense of belonging and increased social interaction.

This aligns with the strategic aims of Parkinson’s UK, which include increasing community support and aiding people in getting fit for the future through additional support, activities and opportunities that meet the regional need. Our programme aims to help participants to become more physically and socially active and to increase awareness of and access to local neurological support and activity provision.

Our free neurological-specific sessions run between 12pm and 2pm at Thornaby Pavilion (TS17 9EW).
