MFC FOUNDATION AND MIDDLESBROUGH COUNCIL PAINT THE TOWN RED

Wear Red for Roary Week is MFC Foundation’s annual week of action to raise awareness of the work the Foundation does across Teesside.

It also raises much needed funds allowing the Foundation to continue to inspire even more hope and confidence in people across Teesside.

This year, Wear Red for Roary Week (WRFR) takes place during the week of Monday, July 8 to Friday, July 12.

The Foundation’s fundraising team have spent the last few weeks dispatching fundraising packs and posters to local businesses across Teesside who have all pledged to support the initiative.

They’re encouraging as many people as possible to wear an item of red clothing and to donate £1 to Wear Red for Roary.

Among the organisations backing this year’s event is Middlesbrough Council, helping to raise the week’s profile by turning the Centre Square fountain bright red.

MFC Foundation Business Development Manager Ann-Marie Anderson said: “This is our fourth Wear Red for Roary Week and gauging by the support that we’ve already garnered, it’s going to be our biggest so far.

“We are very grateful to Middlesbrough Council for all of their continued support and look forward to continuing our partnership.

“Funds raised during the week will help us continue with our essential work, empowering even more people across the Tees Valley.

“Together we believe we can inspire hope and confidence in people across Teesside from every walk of life.”

Councillor Mieka Smiles, Middlesbrough Council’s Executive member for Culture and Communities, said: “As a local authority we wanted to show our support for Wear Red for Roary Week and the fantastic work of the MFC Foundation.

“What better way to raise awareness than by changing the colour of our iconic Centre Square fountain to a bright Boro red.”
