Heavily influenced by our Premier League Inspires programme, working in partnership with British Land at Teesside Park, students from Middlesbrough College received the benefit of insight and wisdom over a 9-week period in a course for students seeking career ideas and advice.
MFC Foundation’s Raise Your Game programme has evolved over the years, always with the backing of British Land, the owners of Teesside Park, but the central ethos remains the same. To help and guide young people whose career path might not be clear.
The Foundation’s education officer, Sarah Stones, played a pivotal role in the success of the programme. “This was a team effort,” she says. “I’d like to thank everyone who has played a part in making this happen.
“The aim was to inspire the young people, to help them with the confidence in what at times can feel like a minefield for them.
“British Land have once again funded the programme; without their backing, this programme wouldn’t be able to run the way it has. A huge “thank-you” to Catherine and Nicola at Teesside Park, as ever, they were inspirational and very supportive.”
Among the employers who helped with advice and hands-on experience were Hollywood Bowl, Lush, Nike, Showcase and Westgrove, with Nando’s Teesside Park providing lunch for the cohort.
Gold Leaf in Norton catered for the sessions, and the Brasserie at Middlesbrough College, which catered for the celebration event, where these pictures were taken.
Without the support of all these people, and many more, we wouldn’t be able to offer this programme,” Danny Thompson, the Foundation’s education and employability manager, reiterating the part our Premier League Inspires programme influenced the sessions.
“Without question, the young people have benefitted from many going out of their way to be helpful and share their own experiences. That was invaluable, so thank-you to you all.”
