A Celebration Of MFC Foundation

Saturday is a special day for the Foundation.

Thanks once more to the generosity of Kindred Group, for this game only Unibet will be replaced by the Foundation’s name and logo on the front of Boro’s shirts.

“We’re very grateful to Kindred who have kindly donated front of shirt space to the Foundation before. They share many of our community values and this is an amazing way to demonstrate that,” says the Foundation’s deputy head Craig McManus.

“It’s a great gesture and a great chance for us to showcase the work we do throughout the communities of Teesside.

“We’re proud and humble to be in a position to make a positive difference to the lives of so many and in different age groups.”

The youngest participant is just over two-years-old, enjoying with many others Roary’s Academy on a Wednesday at the Herlingshaw Centre. While their eldest participant is 104.

The Foundation work extensively in primary schools delivering a Premier League backed programme called Primary Stars, while another Premier League backed programme called Inspires focusses on those in secondary education.

MatchFIT, a fitness programme like no other held on the concourses of the Riverside and in Loftus and Skelton. In association with Ferrero and the EFL, Joy of Moving educates primary school children about the benefits of exercise and nutrition.

Bright Lights, Raise Your Game and a bespoke degree with the University of South Wales are just some of the quality deliveries from our Education and Employability team.

You may know Premier League Kicks as a free football session for 8-18-year-olds, but it’s so much more work that, for privacy reasons, doesn’t meet the public eye.

Active Through Football is a programme which is so much more than football, uniting communities as it does through activities such as chairobics, MMA fitness, tai chi and yoga, while Walking Football is popular from Stockton through to Skelton.

Kitchen Therapy is a unique offering which is currently operating in Loftus. It is a group session which helps combat loneliness and increases mental wellbeing while learning basic techniques that will transform your skills in the kitchen.

And then there’s Dementia, named Programme of the Year at the Foundation’s annual dinner.

Directly or indirectly dementia will affect one in two people in the UK and MFC Foundation are very much part of the landscape of dementia care. Care home visits and dances in Middlesbrough and Skelton are where stories are told and everyone remined they are valued.

The Boro Bus, an award-winning programme, doubles up as a health and education facility and is an invaluable resource to many who otherwise would struggle to get health checks (it has proved of huge benefit when supporting the local NHS). As for the young ones, learning on a bus is just a bit different to a classroom.

None of this would be possible without support from individuals and businesses. If you have any questions on any of the Foundation’s programmes, would like to know how you could help, or even kindly make a donation, e-mail enquiries@mfcfoundation.co.uk
