The first-team aces enjoyed the action from the sidelines with 12 sides from 11 Teesside-based secondary schools competing to represent Middlesbrough in the regional round of the competition.
Taking the first step on a path that could lead to playing at Wembley Stadium, Acklam Grange ran out winners, thanks to a shootout victory over Kings Academy.
The sides were split into two groups of six, playing out a round-robin format with the top four from each group qualifying for the knockout stage.
2024 local round winners Laurence Jackson topped Group A, and they were joined by Acklam Grange, Trinity Catholic College and Macmillan Academy in the last eight. While, in Group B, table-toppers Kings Academy, Conyers 2, Lift Unity City and Sacred Heart also qualified for the knockouts.
As the competition heated up, Kings Academy overcame Macmillan Academy and previous winners Laurence Jackson to secure a place in the final; Acklam Grange defeated Lift Unity City and Trinity Catholic College before going on to claim the crown via a 2-1 shootout win (following a 0-0 stalemate).
Congratulations to our winners, Acklam Grange, who we wish the best of luck in the regional round and a massive thank you to Boro Women's Ruby Cook and Grace Boyes for taking time out of their busy schedule to surprise the girls.
